Celebrating our 30th anniversary and Beethoven’s 250th birthday! Midsummer’s Music is adapting our season to share musical joy by presenting virtual concerts starting in August. The acclaimed summer chamber music series mini-season will be free, and the schedule will be available at www.midsummersmusic.com and on Midsummer’s Facebook page. Virtual lobbies, receptions, coffee chats and special events will give audiences unique ways to hear from our Artistic Director Jim Berkenstock, Executive Director Allyson Fleck, and wonderful Midsummer’s musicians who join us each summer from the Chicago Symphony, Chicago’s Lyric Opera, Milwaukee Symphony, Aspen Music Festival, China National Symphony, and the Ravinia Festival, among others.
“Safety has been our highest priority in planning for a revised summer season and these virtual concerts will allow us to continue to present world-class musicians and programs during this time when many need to remain safer at home. Should live audience participation be a safe and accessible option for us later this summer and into fall, we hope to adapt and see you in person as circumstances allow,” explains Fleck. We want these virtual concerts to be accessible for everyone and we hope you will continue to support our community outreach to Door County and beyond as we transition to a more normal environment. We continue to think of new innovative ways to present our 2020 season.
Many thanks for those who have contributed to Midsummer’s Music! It is because of your support we can move forward with a revised season this year. On behalf of the board, staff, musicians, and volunteers, we look forward to performing for you this summer!
