Tax Exempt Classifications
While there are many Door County organizations that are “tax-exempt” under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, not all of them are considered charitable by the IRS.
Generally speaking, a contribution to an organization classified as a 501 (c)(3) public charity earns you the maximum tax deduction as allowed by law. The tax deductibility of gifts to other types of 501 (c) organizations varies depending on a number of factors. Please contact the respective organizations to confirm their tax status and the deductibility of any gift you might choose to make.
Visit the IRS website for a complete explanation of the different types of exempt organizations.
While a good faith effort was made when compiling this list, the Door County Community Foundation does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of this information.
